Open Duka is an initiative of the Open Institute which is a non-profit, organization and has been recognised in its efforts in making government more transparent and accountable. The Open Institute designs and builds new technologies, data and its relationships with stakeholders to improve the quality transparency and accountability of governments to various stakeholders especially citizens.

Open Duka is one of our flagship projects, launched in Kenya, that provides citizens, journalists, and civic activists with a practical and easy-to-use tool to help them understand the ownership structure of the world they live in. It helps demonstrate the practical application of open information for citizens around the world.

Please make a contribution and help our efforts as we take a stand on transparency, accountability and open government. Your contribution will help us improve the features, gain access to more data, and build the capacity of media and civil society to use this important tool, as we expand to include more Countries in Africa.

Our database contains information on people, companies and organisations, as well as their linkages at specified periods of time. While we make every attempt to make this information as accurate as possible, we take no responsibility for its authenticity. The current information is derived from the Kenya Gazette, Handsards and procurement websites. We will be incorporating more information from different sources soon.
